MetroCream for Rosacea

If you have rosacea, MetroCream® (metronidazole cream) may help relieve some of the symptoms of this skin condition. This prescription medicine is specifically approved to treat the bumps and pimples caused by rosacea. It may also help with associated redness or dryness.
 
When using MetroCream for rosacea treatment, apply the cream on the affected areas of the skin twice daily. This medication is only approved for use in adults age 18 and older. It is not clear how this drug works; however, it is a type of antibiotic and may also have some anti-inflammatory and immune-suppressing properties.
 
Rosacea is a long-term (chronic) disease that affects the skin and sometimes the eyes. It causes redness, pimples, and, in advanced stages, thickened skin. It typically affects the face, but may also affect other areas of the upper body.
