Metrogel Dosage

If your healthcare provider prescribes Metrogel for rosacea treatment, dosing guidelines will depend on the strength of the product chosen. If you are using the 1% formulation of Metrogel, the standard instructions call for a once-daily application of the gel on the affected areas of the skin. For the 0.75% strength, apply the gel to the skin twice daily.

An Introduction to Your Metrogel Dosage

The dose of Metrogel® (metronidazole gel) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on the strength of the product chosen. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Dose of Metrogel 1% for Rosacea

The standard instructions for Metrogel 1% gel are to apply it to the skin once daily, usually in the evening after cleansing the face. Choose a mild cleanser to help minimize rosacea symptoms. For maximum effectiveness, do not "spot treat" and do not just apply Metrogel during flares. Treat the entire area, every day. However, people who have occasional flares may need to only treat the area during the flares.

Although Metrogel 1% gel is usually applied at night, you can apply it in the morning if it is more convenient. In that case, apply it after cleansing but before applying cosmetics.

Dose of Metrogel 0.75% for Rosacea

The standard instructions for Metrogel 0.75% gel are to apply it to the skin twice daily, usually in the morning and evening after cleansing the face. Choose a mild cleanser to help minimize rosacea symptoms. For maximum effectiveness, do not "spot treat" and do not just apply it during flares. Treat the entire area, every day. For people with occasional flares, using Metrogel only during these times might be appropriate.
