Oracea Drug Interactions

There are a number of drugs that may interact with Oracea. Problems may occur if the rosacea medicine is taken in combination with barbiturates, bile acid sequestrants, penicillins, or various other medications. These interactions may reduce the effectiveness of the medications or increase your risk of developing certain side effects.

An Overview of Oracea Interactions

Oracea® (doxycycline) may potentially interact with a number of other medicines. These medications that may lead to drug interactions with Oracea can include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Aluminum, calcium, magnesium, or iron products (such as antacids, iron supplements, calcium supplements, laxatives, and multivitamins)
  • Barbiturates, including (but not limited to):

 

    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
