Finacea Medication Information

If you have rosacea and are at least 18 years old, your healthcare provider may prescribe Finacea® (azelaic acid gel). This medicine comes in the form of a gel and is applied to the affected areas of the skin twice daily. It helps to treat the bumps and pimples caused by rosacea, and may even help with the redness associated with this medical condition.

Although most people tolerate this drug well, it is not suitable for some people. Before using Finacea, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other medications you are taking and any other medical problems you may have. For example, you may not be able to use this rosacea drug if you have certain allergies or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, you may have to stop using certain skin products, such as sunscreen or lotions, while using Finacea, as it may cause skin irritation.
