Information About Rhinophyma

If your rosacea has reached an advanced stage, you may develop rhinophyma, which is mainly characterized by an enlarged, bulbous, and red nose. Rhinophyma affects more men than women, and at this time, it is not exactly clear what causes it.

The choice of treatment that is right for you will depend on how severe your case is. For example, healthcare providers often begin treatment with topical or oral rosacea medications. If the symptoms do not respond to medications, rhinophyma may be treated with:

  • Electrosurgery
  • Laser treatment
  • Dermabrasion
  • Resculpturing.

(Click Rhinophyma for more information about this condition, including how your healthcare provider will make a diagnosis.)
